Along with the Ida Grove Community Recreation Center and the outdoor swimming pool, Ida Grove has another great fitness resource, the Pleasant Valley Trail. The trail came into being in several phases between the years of 1994 and 2001. It is a great place to walk, jog, bicycle and rollerblade. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the trail. The overall length of the trail is 3.76 miles. It takes you completely around the town, from along the Odebolt River on the north side, to the high school on the south side, and along the golf course and by the Rec Center on the northeast side. In 2001, a bridge was built over the Maple River on the north side of the trail, which connected the existing trail to a new addition which runs through Moorehead Park. This new area is 1.23 miles through the scenic woods and by Moorehead Park to the playground.
