Regular Outdoor Pool Hours During 2008 Season:
Monday - Saturday: 1 - 5 p.m., 7 - 9 p.m.
Sunday: 1 - 6 p.m.
Family Flotation Night During 2008 Season:
Wednesdays 7 - 9 p.m.
Water Walking & Lap Swim During 2008 Season:
Monday - Friday: noon - 1 p.m., 6 - 7 p.m.
Pool Policies
The minimum outdoor temperature for opening the pool, for afternoon hours, is 70 degrees by 11 a.m.
Afternoon Closing Policy: For open swim, the pool will be open for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours. When attendance drops below seven, the pool will close immediately.
Evening Closing Policy: For open swim, the pool will be open for a minimum of one hour. When attendance drops below seven, the pool will close immediately.
A responsible adult must accompany all children under age six.
Swimming Lessons - 2008
*ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE DONE IN PERSON AT THE OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL.
*THE REC CENTER POOL IS THE RAIN/BAD WEATHER SITE FOR SWIMMING LESSONS UNLESS THUNDERSTORMS ARE PRESENT. IN THIS EVENT LESSONS WILL BE CANCELLED AND NOT BE MADE UP.

Swimming Lessons Levels
Level I: Introduction to Water Skills
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water.
Course Description: Basic water safety rules. Swimming on front and back using arm and leg actions. Using a life jacket. Recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help. Submerging mouth, nose and eyes. Exhaling underwater. Opening eyes underwater and picking up submerged object. Floating on front and back. (Five year olds or kindergartners with no previous lessons.)
Level II: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Purpose: Give students success with fundamental skills.
Course Description: Moving in the water while wearing a life jacket. Recognizing a swimmer in distress and getting help. Submerging entire head. Bobbing in water. Front and back guide. Jellyfish float. Treading water using arm and leg motions. Swimming using combined stroke on front and back.
Level III: Stroke Development
Purpose: Build on the skills in level II by providing additional guided practice.
Course Description: Reaching assist. Kneeling or standing dive (shallow dive progression). Submerging and retrieving an object. Rotary breathing in horizontal position. Front and back guide. Survival float and back float. Front and back crawl. Butterfly-kick and body motion.
Level IV: Stroke Improvement
Purpose: Develop confidence in the strokes learned and improve other aquatic skills.
Course Description: Safe diving rules. Throwing assist. Dive from stride position or shallow dive. Feet-first surface dive. Survival float and back float. Front and back crawl. Elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
Level V: Stroke Refinement
Purpose: Provide further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Course Description: Survival swimming. Performing rescue breathing. Standing dive (diving progression). Tuck surface dive and pike surface dive. Open turns on front and back. Front flip turn and backstroke flip turn. Front and back crawl. Elementary backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, and sidestroke.
Level VI: Swimming and Skill Proficiency
Course Description: Refines the strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power, and smoothness over greater distances. Level VI is designed with “menu” options. Each of these options focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. These options include: Personal Water Safety, Lifegaurd Readiness, Fundamentals of Diving, and Fitness Swimmer.

Family Pass: No limit on family members. Those on the pass must be immediate family, residing at the same address. Must be able to claim all members for tax purposes.
