The following is a list of the current Ida Grove Community Recreation Center policy. Copies are available at the front desk.


The Rec Center is open to fitness members and guests, provided they have completed the 4th grade. Fourth grade and under must be accompanied by an adult. However, certain rooms of the Rec Center have age restrictions.

Must be 14 years old or above to accompany a child fourth grade or under.

Personal belongings, gym bags, backpacks, etc., are not permitted in activity areas. Please use the lockers on the lower level to store all items. The Ida Grove Community Recreation Center nor the City of Ida Grove is responsible for lost or stolen items.

No children over 4 in opposite sex locker rooms or bathrooms.

Lockers are available for daily use unless rented for one year at the reception desk. Padlocks are not provided, but you may bring your own. Locks and all personal belongings will be removed from the lockers nightly.

Alcoholic beverages, smoking, tobacco, gum and sunflower seeds are prohibited.

Bicycle, skateboard, scooter, roller blade and roller skate use is prohibited inside the facility. Usage is prohibited outside the facility.

Animals are not allowed inside the facility, except guide/aid animals accompanying individuals with visual or hearing disabilities.

The IGRC Staff will operate any controls such as lighting, heating, cooling fans, etc.

Water and sports drink in closed, resealable plastic containers are allowed in the weight and aerobics rooms only.

All other drinks, food and glass containers are confined to the reception area. No food or drinks will be allowed in the gym, racquetball courts, or on the walking track.

All members using the Rec Center do so at their own risk.

Members will be expected to be involved in only the activities in which they have appropriate experience and physical ability.

It is recommended to have a physical examination by a physician before starting any exercise program.

Misuse of the Rec Center equipment or facilities will not be tolerated.

Members should not move or alter the equipment.

Members may be required to pay for any damage done as the result of negligence or inappropriate use of the Rec Center or its equipment.

All members must wear proper clothes and clean athletic shoes with non-marking soles. If not dressed appropriately, members may be asked to change clothes.

Taking photographs and or recording audio or video without authorization are not allowed in the locker or restroom areas.



Gymnasium

“Open Gym” hours will primarily be a time for half-court basketball, although there will be specific times when the gym will be reserved for other sports such as volleyball or tennis. When reserved for a specific sport, other activities are not allowed. If a conflict arises between users of the gym, the IGCRC Staff will decide how it will be used.

Hanging on the rims, nets, or other potentially damaging acts will not be allowed.

No refreshments of any kind will be allowed in the gym.

During open gym hours, it will be possible to use the gym to throw a football, Frisbee, jump rope, or other activities as long as it does not interfere with other members' use of the gym.

Full court basketball on the large or side-courts will be allowed only when it does not interfere with other members' use of the gym. Be considerate of other members.

Fighting, abusive language, or disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.

Proper athletic footwear (non-marking soles with covered toes) is required.

The portable baskets are for ages 8 and under only. Absolutely no dunking.



Walking-Jogging Track

Walking/Jogging direction will change daily. Even days the track goes clockwise and odd days the track goes counterclockwise.

Stretching is allowed in designated areas only. Do not stretch on the track.

Give right of way to passing runners/walkers. Joggers should use the outside lane.

Proper athletic footwear is required.

All toddlers must be carried or in a stroller while on the walking track.

No sprinting on the track, unless approved by the IGRC Staff.



Racquetball Courts

We will have equipment available or you may bring your own. It is recommended that all players wear protective eyewear.

Racquet wristbands must be worn at all times.

The racquetball courts may be reserved by members up to one week in advance, or on a first come, first serve basis.

Members may reserve by phone or in person. One reservation per day allowed per member. Any member who is 14 years old or older may reserve the racquetball courts. Younger members may play when courts are available.

There is a 10 minute default period on all court reservations. After the default period, other members may use the courts on a first come, first serve basis.

Play ends at 5 minutes before the hour; this is a 5 minute “change over” time.

Reservations are made for 55 minute time slots.

If a member needs to cancel their reservation, they must to do so 3 hours before their scheduled use of the court. There will be a $5 fee assessed to members who reserve the court and default. Members will not be allowed to use the courts until the fee is paid.

Proper athletic footwear with non marking soles and covered toes is required.



Weight Room

You must be at least 14 years old to be in the weight room without a parent.

12 and 13 year olds may use the weight room when accompanied by their parents or parents can contact the Rec Center Director to make a reservation for their 12 or 13 year old to use the treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike.

No one under 12 years of age is allowed in the weight room.

Appropriate athletic attire, including closed toe athletic footwear, is required at all times.

Leaning weights or bars against the wall or mirrors is prohibited. All weights must be placed on racks.

Equipment must be wiped down after each use! Spray bottles and cleaning rags are provided in several areas around the room.

Before beginning your weight-training program, members should attend a weight orientation. Check the reception desk calendar for the date and time of a weight orientation that will work for your schedule.



Aerobics Room

No one under the age of 14 is allowed in the aerobics room.

The aerobics room can be rented for classes when not in use by classes taught by Rec Center Employees. All rental classes will be coordinated through the Rec Center Director.

Proper footwear must be worn at all times.

No dribbling, bouncing or throwing of aerobic or medicine balls is allowed.

Exercise balls for intended use only. Must be 14 years old or above to use.



Community Room

The Community Room, including the kitchen, is available for rent.

A two-hour minimum rental will be required.

The room can be rented by the hour or the entire day.

Rental will be on a first come, first serve basis, coordinated by the Rec Center Director.

When the room is not rented it may be used by anyone for appropriate activities.

A deposit will be required when reserving the room.



Senior Room

The Senior Room is available for card playing or meetings on a first come, first serve basis.

The Senior Room may be rented for special occasions.

The Senior Room in intended for members and guests over the age of 50.



Kids Room

An adult must supervise children age 5 and under at all times.

Parents may request the use of the room for parties. Reservations will be on a first come, first serve basis.



Golf Room

Available to members and guests age 16 and older. Younger children may use if accompanied by a parent.

Reservations need to be made and a $10.00 fee for members and a $20.00 non-member fee will be charged.

Simulator reservations may be made in advance and you may only reserve one time slot at a time.
Time schedules will be followed when consecutive tee times are reserved.



Sauna

Adults may use the sauna at any time.

16-17 year olds may use the sauna only when a lifeguard is on duty.

Maximum of 8 in the sauna at one time.

It is recommended that you do not exceed 15 minutes at one time in the sauna.

Proper clothing must be worn.

Persons who have medical conditions, including pregnancy, should not use the sauna without first consulting with a physician.



Swimming Pool

No one under the age of 18 is allowed in or around the pool area without a lifeguard on duty. Children age 7 and below are encouraged to use the wading pool when accompanied by an adult. A lifeguard does not have to be on duty to use the wading pool.

The wading pool is open all times during the day. A lifeguard does not need to be on duty, but you must be in the pool area with your child.

Persons with communicable diseases are not allowed in the pool area.

All persons 18 and over may use the pool at any time during the day for lap swimming and water walking with a buddy. Members under 18 may only use the pool during posted lifeguard hours.

Anyone under 5th grade needs to be accompanied by a parent.

All members must shower with soap before using the pool.

No outside shoes are allowed on the pool deck.

Regulation swimwear must be worn. NO CUT OFFS!

No drink, food, or gum in the pool area.

No profanity.

No spitting or urinating in the pool.

No diving in the pool. No tumbling or gymnastics off the side of the pool.

No running on the deck.

No splashing, dunking, chicken fighting or other forms of horseplay.

While lap swimming is taking place, no playing is allowed in the area.

For children to lap swim, they have to demonstrate the ability to swim a lap.

Children under the age of three years are required to wear plastic pants or swim diapers.

No toys, unless provided and checked out by the Rec Center, shall be brought into the pool area.

Please pick up towels and put in towel receptacle.

An adult must accompany members under the age of five in the big pool.



Hot Tub

Adults may use the spa at anytime. No buddy system is needed. Adults will be monitored by the front desk cameras.

All members must shower with soap before using the spa.

Persons with medical conditions, including pregnancy, should not use the spa without first consulting with a physician.

Anyone having a contagious disease shall not use the spa.

Persons shall not use the spa immediately following exercise or while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or other drugs.

Persons age 15 and under may not use the spa. 16 and 17 year olds may use the spa only when a lifeguard is on duty.

It is recommended that persons do not use the spa longer than 10 minutes.

No one shall jump or dive into the spa.

The maximum patron load of the spa is 8 people.

No food, drinks, or gum allowed in the spa.

No glass in the spa area.

No splashing.
